Dean’s Message

What a pleasure it was to spend time with our alumni, supporters, speakers and guests who attended the 125th Annual Alumni Meeting in San Francisco in February. I hope you were able to experience and enjoy the continuing education, camaraderie, class reunions and other activities at this milestone event.

This spring celebrates another special moment in the history of the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry—the centennial birthday of Contact Point!

“The Contact Point” started off as a semimonthly newsletter first published on February 27, 1924 by the student body of the College of Physicians and Surgeons. It has evolved during the past 100 years to today’s award-winning and highly acclaimed magazine that is used to communicate with alumni, colleagues and friends around the world.

This issue includes some examples of Contact Point’s covers over the years. Also, I would like to remind you that a digital version of the magazine—including recent back issues—is available at contactpoint.pacific.edu.

Our spring issue also features a look at three of our growing centers of excellence at the Dugoni School of Dentistry—the Center for Innovation and Translation, the Center for Equity in Oral Health Care and the Center for Success. You’ll learn more about how the people involved in these centers are building new partnerships to advance the school, our people and the profession itself.

This issue showcases our value of humanism and how it is exemplified by the Dugoni School family, with a focus on several of our long-standing faculty and staff members. We explore why they came to the Dugoni School and how they have contributed to the school in their own unique ways.

As we look back at historic milestones and build exciting new traditions, thank you for staying engaged with the Dugoni School as we set our sights high for future successes.
